* Add changelog fragment.
The `git submodule status` command is relative to the current git repository by default.
When running from a repository subdirectory paths can be returned above the current directory.
Specifying the current directory with `git submodule status` avoids listing submodules above that directory.
This will fix issues when testing a collection that is rooted below the repository root when that repository uses submodules.

* Update collections integration targets path.
* Fix integration path handling.
* Add collections test target fallback.
Also add warnings and errors for common path mistakes.
* Improve role target detection.
This directory is currently a fixed location to make troubleshooting easier.
It is cleared before each test target runs, but is preserved when a test target finishes.
This allows the contents to be inspected when a test fails.
The previous location was `~/ansible_testing/`.
The new location is within the content root:
- `test/results/.tmp/output_dir` for Ansible
- `tests/output/.tmp/output_dir` for Ansible Collections
Moving the directory reduces the number of places on the filesystem where tests create output.
It also enables the results to be returned from delegated systems.

The directories used for collections tests are changing as follows:
`test/` -> `tests/`
`test/results/` -> `tests/output/`
This is a breaking change for collections tests executed by ansible-test.
All collections will need to be updated to use the new directory.
The `tests/output/` directory should be added to the `.gitignore` or equivalent in each collection.
This change is being made before the first pre-release of Ansible 2.9 since ansible-test has not yet been shipped.
Using the `tests/` directory matches the other collections directories `plugins/` and `roles/`.
This resolves https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/60218
* play, block, task: New attribute forks
With this it is possible to limit the number of concurrent task runs.
forks can now be used in play, block and task. If forks is set in different
levels in the chain, then the smallest value will be used for the task.
The attribute has been added to the Base class as a list to easily provide
all the values that have been set in the different levels of the chain.
A warning has been added because of the conflict with run_once. forks will
be ignored in this case.
The forks limitation in StrategyBase._queue_task is not used for the free
strategy.
Signed-off-by: Thomas Woerner <twoerner@redhat.com>
* Handle forks in free strategy
The forks attribute for the free strategy is handled in run in the free
StrategyModule. This is dony by counting the amount of tasks where the uuid
is the same as the current task, that should be queued next. If this amount
is bigger or equal to the forks attribute from the chain (task, block,
play), then it will be skipped to the next host. Like it is also done with
blocked_hosts.

* Add galaxy collections API v3 support
Issue: ansible/galaxy-dev#60
- Determine if server supports v3
Use 'available_versions' from `GET /api`
to determine if 'v3' api is available on
the server.
- Support v3 pagination style
ie, 'limit/offset style', with the paginated
responses based on https://jsonapi.org/format/#fetching-pagination
v2 galaxy uses pagination that is more or less
'django rest framework style' or 'page/page_size style',
based on the default drf pagination described
at https://www.django-rest-framework.org/api-guide/pagination/#pagenumberpagination
- Support galaxy v3 style error response
The error objects returned by the galaxy v3 api are based
on the JSONAPI response/errors format
(https://jsonapi.org/format/#errors).
This handles that style response. At least for publish_collection
for now. Needs extracting/generalizing.
Handle HTTPError in CollectionRequirement.from_name()
with _handle_http_error(). It will raise AnsibleError
based on the json in an error response.
- Update unit tests
update test/unit/galaxy/test_collection*
to paramaterize calls to test against
mocked v2 and v3 servers apis.
Update artifacts_versions_json() to tale an
api version paramater.
Add error_json() for generating v3/v3 style error
responses.
So now, the urls generated and the pagination schema
of the response will use the v3 version if
the passed in GalaxyAPI 'galaxy_api' instance
has 'v3' in it's available_api_versions
* Move checking of server avail versions to collections.py
collections.py needs to know the server api versions
supported before it makes collection related calls,
so the 'lazy' server version check in api.GalaxyAPI
is never called and isn't set, so 'v3' servers weren't
found.
Update unit tests to mock the return value of the
request instead of GalaxyAPI itself.

ansible-test: async deployment w/ vcenter provider
So far, `ansible-test`'s vcenter provider was trigger by a blocking POST
call. Since the depoyment take a lot of time (> 8m), we decided to use
an async call instead and poll the API server until the deployment
is ready.
* Template value of debugger and then check for validity
* Removed if/else and forcing failure on undefined as per comments

`vmware_guest_disk_info` expects the VM to be running. Since
964783fbd2, `prepare_vmware_tests`
creates the test VM with the `powered-off` state. This to increase
the performance.
This commit ensures the test-suite actually run against a running VM,
as expected.

* Run no-unwanted-files sanity test only on Ansible.
Since collections should be able to use binary modules there is not really any limit on what could exist in a collection `plugins` directory.
* Add support for symlinks in sanity target lists:
- Sanity tests that need to analyze symlinks can do so using the supplied target list.
- Tests that analyze directories will now only look at symlinks if requested.
- Directory symlinks will now be seen as directories instead of files.
* Enable symlinks on filename based sanity tests.
Sanity tests that evalulate filenames instead of content should include symlinks.
* Update symlinks sanity test.
Use the sanity test target list now that it can include symlinks.
* aws_kms: (integration tests) Test updating a key by ID rather than just my alias
* aws_kms: (integration tests) Test deletion of non-existent and keys that are already marked for deletion
* aws_kms: Ensure we can perform actions on a specific key_id rather than just aliases
In the process switch over to using get_key_details rather than listing all keys.
* aws_kms: When updating keys use the ARN rather than just the ID.
This is important when working with cross-account trusts.
* Handle multiple Content-Type headers correctly
Avoids situations where mulitple Content-Type headers including charset information can result in errors like
```
LookupError: unknown encoding: UTF-8, text/html
```
* Account for multiple conflicting values for content-type and charset
* Add changelog fragment
* Renaming `onepassword_facts` to `onepassword_info`.

* Removed "system_package_print" line from test/sanity/ignore.txt as instructed by failed shippable test.
Actual PR module isn't affected.
* Update ansible-test collection inventory handling.
- The `windows-integration` command now supports the `--inventory` option.
- The incomplete support for host_vars and group_vars directories has been removed.
- The incomplete support for an inventory directory has been removed.
- The inventory specified by `--inventory` can now reside outside the install and content roots.
- Using `ansible_ssh_private_key_file` with `--docker` or `--remote` results in a warning about the combination being unsupported and likely to fail.
* Fix config handling.
* Fix payload handling of ssh keys.
* Disable pylint no-self-use rule for ansible-test.
* De-duplicate payload paths.
This deals with hardcoded vos_config in our vyos action plugin. Needed

* centralize parsing/validation in AnsibleCollectionRef class
* fix issues loading Jinja2 plugins from multiple sources
* resolves#59462, #59890,
* sanity test fixes
* string fixes
* add changelog entry
* Install ansible-test
Modify the install script to install ansible-test and its supporting
code. Alternative to #60701 that doesn't change package_dir ansible for
fear that it might regress https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/10437
Also:
* No longer use package_data. Everything in the package dirs is going
to be installed. Anything that shouldn't be installed needs to be
moved elsewhere.
* modify the algorithm to store symlinks which are in the same tree
instead of same directory
* Add ansible_test files to package-data sanity test
* MANIFEST.in cleanups
* Add lib/ansible/config/*.yml
* Make most things in code directories (lib/ansible and test/lib/ansible_test/)
use explicit file extensions instead of wildcards for maintainability
* Exclude common file extensions that we don't want included in the code
directories
* Change package-data test to be more complete
* Now compares the repository, sdist, and install
* Compares both that everything in the sdist is in the repo and
everything in the install is in the sdist in addition to comparing that
everything in the repo that we want is in the install
* Leave out test artifacts
Only include the directory structure for test/results and test/cache not
any files that may have been generated by test runs
Remove test/utils files from the sdist as these are only needed for our CI
cleanup of docs in MANIFEST.in; getting rid of build files.
* Add the ability to output sdist and snapshot to specific directory
* Add a warning about modifying the heuristic to setup.py
* Address generated files
* Use make snapshot instead of sdist to generate changelog and man pages
and make sure they're included
* Ignore both the test/utils and generated test files (results, cache)
* Deal with Python3 __pycache__ byte code caches
* Don't check documentation, that isn't built for the sdist
* Restructure for clarity
* Add cli web docs to make clean
This was causing problems when attempting to test that the sdist didn't
have extra files
* Fix bug constructing python names from __pycache__ names
* Create a clean repo to work from
* Exclude test/legacy and be more explicit on extensions
* Exclude the legacy directory from sdist

* Fix kwarg doc and added version
* Fix typo and doc improvement
* Fix base64 encoding and allow --server to override list
* Warn when transforming constructed groups
The `keyed_groups` field has used sanitization since 2.6, but `groups` only started doing so in 2.8.
This adds a warning for the change in behavior.

The example tries to validate a sshd config, but provides sshd (server) a client configuration.

* fix the linting problems and add the changelog fragment.
* add test
* modify test to ensure result rather than return value
Creates the test VMs with `prepare_vmware_test`. Before this commit,
only one VM was created and the next step was failing because this was
not matching the expected list of VMs.
The `test/integration/integration_config.yml` vars file will now be loaded from the content under test and is now optional.
The `output_dir` and `win_output_dir` vars are now provided by ansible-test.
* Fix var_blending test temp dir usage.
* Fix filters integration test:
- Fix use of `output_dir`.
- Use `localhost` instead of `testhost` since we're only testing filters.
- Fix `fileglob` test to actually test a directory that exists.
* Fix lookups integration test:
- Fix use of `output_dir`.
- Use `localhost` instead of `testhost` since we're only testing lookups.
* Fix ansible-runner test temp dir usage.
* Fix template and template_jinja2_latest test.
Use the `OUTPUT_DIR` env var to get the output directory for the tests.
* Fix Python version compat in filters test.
* Skip filters test on Python 2.6.
* Initial commit for the most basic of unit tests

* Made galaxy token file location configurable
also made file handling 'unicode safe'
* only create a token on demand
* convert into decorator in case other funcs need
* Change formatting of the network/user_guide tables
* Tables had hardcoded line breaks to workaround a bug in the
read-the-docs theme. Change those so that they now flow according to
the browser size.
* Also switch away from grid tables to the simpler to create and read
simple tables
* Changes to table stylesheet
* valign all content, not just the first column. This becomes important
with more than two columns
* Set the font-weight to the first <p> element inside of the first
column. This allows us to simplify the first column when everything
there is the attribute name
* Change platform_index footnote from numbered to dagger symbol
The footnote notation was very odd to read. Try using a symbol for the
footnote instead of a number to see if that will clarify it. We can't
manually specify symbolled footnotes, though, so we have to emulate a
footnote with an internal link. This loses the backref to each place
that the footnote was used but since that was the portion which was hard
to read, perhaps that's for the best.
* ansible-galaxy tidy up arg parse with better validation
* Add support back in for -v before sub aprser
* Added deprecation warning for manually parsed verbosity
* Move Ansible test config into env vars.
This allows ansible-test to use an empty Ansible config file, leaving open the option for users to customize the one used to run tests (although such usage is discouraged).
* Use config from content under test when present.
* Use an rst table instead of a raw html table
* Rst is easier to read so we want to use it wherever possible
* Fix the jinja2 filters which create links so that they do not include
extraneous whitespace in the URL
* Normalize description data before sending them to the templates
* Limiting when path_content is generated
path_content will be empty and unnecessary in all scenarios except when changing the state of a folder to absent, so adding in a check to limit when this parameter is defined
* Move module_utils
* Add eos_interfaces and deprecate eos_interface
* Add boilerplate, update ignores.txt
* Try to reconcile eos provider documentation with argspec
* Try to work around unknown interfaces
* Move param_list_to_dict to utils
* Adding waiter to cluster remove process
* blank line contains whitespace
* update aws_eks integration test
* Refactor aws_eks test suite to use pip
* update version testing
* missing parens...
* add changelog fragment
* Add waiter to module_utils, fix exception handling.
* Correct EKS waiter checks
* various mod_args fixes
* filter task keywords when parsing actions from task_ds- prevents repeatedly banging on the pluginloader for things we know aren't modules/actions
* clean up module/action error messaging. Death to `no action in task!`- actually list the candidate modules/actions from the task if present.
* remove shadowed_module test
* previous discussion was that this behavior isn't worth the complexity or performance costs in mod_args
* fix/add test, remove module shadow logic
* address review feedback
* Add [junos_lldp_global] model
* Add new resource module junos_lldp_global
* Targets model https://github.com/ansible/network/pull/30

This bug was introduced in commit d2edf1d435
("User - Create parent directories if they do not exist in the specified
home path (#51043)") and did not make it into any releases.
A team of SUSE employees and openSUSE community members will
now be able to step up and help maintain zypper modules.
For this, it makes sense to create a team.
I will be the first person of this organisation.
I have started a process internally to start this initiative,
and will extend this to the OpenSUSE ML when this has merged.
Since there might be several projects with the same name in different
domains, it's required to define domain_id during project search.
Otherwise openstacksdk will raise "Multiple matches found" error
The vcenter provider allow one to use the `VMWARE_TEST_PLATFORM` to
manually select a test platform. The test platforms are:
- `govcsim`
- `static`
- and `worldstream`.
Before this commit, the `govcsim` value was ignored.
Example:
```shell
$ VMWARE_TEST_PLATFORM=govcsim ansible-test integration --python 3.7 needs/target/prepare_vmware_tests/
```

This will help prevent accidental merging of content to recently obsoleted directories when adding new files.
It may also help contributors who have modified obsolete files understand where their changes should now be made.
On POWER systems, /proc/cpuinfo provides a 'processor' entry as a
counter, and a 'cpu' entry with a description (similar to 'model name'
on x86). Support for POWER in get_cpu_facts was added via the 'cpu'
entry in commit 8746e692c1. Subsequent
support for ARM64 in commit ce4ada93f9
used the 'processor' entry, resulting in double-counting of cores on
POWER systems.
When unit tests were later written for this code in
commit 55306906cf, the erroneous values
were just accepted in the test instead of being diagnosed.

Co-Authored-By: Felix Fontein <felix@fontein.de>
* Added my Docker Machine dynamic inventory plugin (from https://github.com/ximon18/ansible-docker-machine-inventory-plugin) to begin the process of proposing it for inclusion in Ansible core. There are no integration tests yet. The docker_swarm inventory plugin has such tests but has some concerning note in its 'aliases' file about disabling docker due to test instability and also I wouldn't know at his point how to get Docker Machine installed on the integration test platform.
* Removed extraneous type check from nagios module, in order to allow python 3.x
* Removed now useless import types
* Added changelog fragment
* Update changelog.
* Rebased and removed check due to module adding earlier guardrails
* Updated changelog to mention earlier fix adding now completely removed guardrails
* Remove superfluous type checks. Fix docs type.
* Update ignore.txt.
When targeting 'foo*' in tests, it pulled in packages other than the dummy packages in our testing repo that have many dependencies, some of which were causing tests to fail.
Also change 'bar' package name to avoid the same issue in the future.
Using docker_image to tag an image as "latest" only updates an existing
tag when used with "force_tag: yes" option. As "latest" is present in
most cases, the option is added to the example to prevent unexpected
behaviour.
* Relocate module validator code and tests.
* Fix validate-modules entry point and imports.
* Fix paths and test entry points.
* Fix up unit tests.
* Fix shebang and execute bit.
* Remove UnsafeProxy
Move the work from UnsafeProxy to wrap_var and add support for bytes.
Where wrap_var is not needed, use AnsibleUnsafeBytes/AnsibleUnsafeText
directly.

People were confused by this paragraph. They read it as Ansible won't
auto-detect the python interpreter until 2.12. Tried to reword it so
that they'll see that Ansible will auto-detect it currently if

This commit allows users to access a vCenter or a ESXi through a
HTTP CONNECT based proxy.
To do so, the users have to set the `proxy_host` and `proxy_port`
variables.
The can also use the `VMWARE_PROXY_HOST` and `VMWARE_PROXY_PORT`
environment variables.
This feature depends on pyvmomi > v6.7.1.2018.12.

Refactor vmware_cluster into several modules (vmware_cluster, vmware_cluster_drs, vmware_cluster_ha and vmware_cluster_vsan) as discussed in #58023.
vmware_cluster lacks a lot of configuration options for DRS, HA and vSAN. Implementing them
all in vmware_cluster would make the module hard to maintain. Therefore, splitting it into several
modules and implementing the missing configuration options in them seems a good idea to me.
This is step one, refactoring vmware_cluster into several modules. Step two, implementing more
configuration options for DRS, HA and vSAN, will follow.
Password can come with the '%' character. If we keep ConfigParser
interpolation enabled, it will try to modify the value.
Typical error looks like this one:
```
configparser.InterpolationSyntaxError: '%' must be followed by '%' or '(', found: '%Z,sq'
```
See: https://docs.python.org/3/library/configparser.html#interpolation-of-values
If the 'local' parameter of the 'user' Ansible module is enabled, and
the user has been found in the local user database, don't emit
a warning, because this is an expected outcome.
Add changelog and integration tests

* meraki_snmp module supports network SNMP settings
- Network SNMP settings were added to the API
- Parameters are different so it's a new data structure
- Full suite of integration tests
- Commit includes some cleanup as well
* Add reset task for SNMPv3
* Fix py3 decoding issues in cyberarkpassword.py
* Use to_native instead of forced utf-8 decoding
* Use to_bytes to avoid trouble with Popen
* Create 59500-cyberarkpassword-fix-py3-decoding.yaml
* Check sanity ignore paths against test paths.
This prevents ignores from being added for paths which will never be tested by the test being ignored or skipped.
* Fix sanity ignore handling for no/all targets.
This allows checking of ignores for tests which do not use a target list.
It also allows checking of the full ignore list on every test run for tests that always use all targets.

* Update pbrun.py
Require ternary operator for if get_option('user') returns NoneType object.
* Update pbrun.py
Added default value to become_user in documentation.
* Update pbrun.py
Changed default for become_user to be '' instead of root.
If a VM has an attached CDROM, `backing` attribute of the CDROM will
be defined.
As a result, we cannot just loop `vm_obj.config.hardware.device` and check
for the existance of the attribute to decide if the entry is a
harddrive.
Instead, we check the type of the device, and only keep the
`vim.vm.device.VirtualDisk` disk.
This issue is actually breaking our test-suite with regular environment
because we keep a Fedora ISO attached to the VM.
* Render elements in module doc and sanity test for suboptions

A recent update to lxml for Python >= 3.6 now preserves key order. Change the test input so the input is sorted, making tests pass on previous versions of lxml as well as the latest version.
* Fixed the redhat_subscription module:
- Option 'pool_ids' works in Python3 now
- It tries to attach only pools IDs that are available
- Optimization of code: do not call list --available, when
no pool is requested
- Simplified configure() method
- Small changes to generate same commands on Python2 and Python3.
Order of arguments/options and pool IDs have to be same to
be able to run unit test using Python2 and Python3.
- Added fragments file for redhat_subscribtion module
Remove confusing phrase about pesize as a "multiple of 128KiB".
Allowed values are anything accepted by vgcreate -s,
powers of 2, minimum 1K for lvm2.
As pesize less than 1M is accepted since Ansible 2.6,
close#29295
Minimum version requirements for sanity tests have been standardized:
- All single version sanity tests now require Python 3.5 or later.
- All multiple version sanity tests continue to use all supported Python versions.
- All version neutral sanity tests continue to work on any supported Python version.
Previously some tests required 3.5 or later with most of the remaining tests requiring 2.7 or later.
When using the `--python` option to specify a Python version:
- Tests which do not support the specified Python version will be skipped with a warning.
- If the specified Python version is not available, any test attempting to use it will generate an error.
When not using the `--python` option to specify a Python version:
- Multiple version tests will attempt to run on all supported versions.
- Single version tests will use the current version if supported and available, or if no supported version is available.
- Single version tests will use the lowest available and supported version if the current version is not supported.
- Any versions which are not available or supported will be skipped with a warning.
Unit tests automatically skip unavailable Python versions unless `--python` was used to specify a version.

* added examples for:
- tag_name,
- tag_value
- public_ipv4_pool
* remove aliases
* Added changelog fragment
* added integration tests for ec2_eip module
* removed space to trigger rebuild
* When the release scripts were changed, this file to implement release
announcements was left out
* Add announce.py to the compile skip lists as only the release engineers
run this during package build.
* Implements etc_hosts for docker_image module
Allows custom hosts on docker_image module.
The of this option made impossible to use docker_image module to build
images that required a custom hostname in /etc/hosts. For running
containers this option was already present.
While the python-docker API uses extra_hosts term, our existing module
already uses etc_hosts argument, so it sounds better to have some
consistency between docker_container and docker_image.

- Use predictable VM name during the tests (test_vm1, test_vm2 and
test_vm2). This to simplify the teardown of the newly created resource
before the next test.
- Update the documentation to explain the new requirement
- Avoid VM creation with `with_items` when it's not mandatory. This to:
- speed up the test execution, our hypervisors have limited resources
- simplify the teardown
- Remove `create_d1_c1_f0_env.yml`, the test was just testing how Ansible
pass environment variables.
- Correct the name for the `f0` variable (`f1`)
- Fix the DVS tests, the hosts can now reach the dvswitch1 vswitch
- Provision the VM with a poweroff status, this to improve the
idempotency and sleep up the tests
- Avoid the use of `prepare_vmware_tests` to prepare virtual machines
when we just need one machine
Python 2.7.9 < does not have the `ssl.SSLContext` attribute. If
`validate_certs` is `True`, we cannot validate the SSL connection,
and we need to raise an error.
The default for a httpapi connection is to do basic auth, however
when setting the url_username and url_password without
force_basic_auth, the call to ansible.module_utils.open_url would
not always properly handle the basic auth headers based on the
combinations of **kwargs passed. This ensures that is always the
case when no session token exists and as the goal is to use basic
auth in the event of not having a session token, this should be
a safe operation.

`vmware_content_library_info` functional test is currently broken because it
assumes the vCenter content library is not empty.
With this commit, the test inits the vCenter content library database using
`prepapre_vmware_tests`, this before the functional test execution.
Previously if `sysctl_set=no` (which is the default) this module only
checked for changes in the sysctl.conf file to decide whether it should
reload it or not. This means that if the values in the conf file are the
same as they are set with the module, but the current values on the
system are different, that this module wouldn't apply the changes on the
system and thus the value set with the module wouldn't be applied on the
OS. This isn't obvious and it doesn't make sense that the module works
like that by default, especially because there is a separate option
`reload`. Now sysctl will also check if the current value differs on the
system and if it does, it will reload the file again.

Default values must be string, not `None`.

not have the `vmware_proxy_host` or `vmware_proxy_port` keys defined.
Commit b7724fdf85
appears to have caused a regression, where `ip4`, `gw4`, `ip6`, `gw6`
were converted to `ipv4.address`, `ipv4.gateway` etc.
This causes bootproto (or `ipv4.method`) to remain `dhcp`, as noted in https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/36615
This commit only reverts the key-value pairs to the original names,
which is in line with both expectation (manual ip addr == no dhcp) and
the language used in the playbook, which is, for example, "ip4" not
"ipv4.address"

pytest.raises has two parameters, message and match. message is meant
to be the error message that pytest gives when the tested code does not
raise the expected exception. match is the string that pytest expects
to be a match for the repr of the exception. Unfortunately, it seems
that message is often mistakenly used where match is meant. Fix those
cases.
message is also deprecated so removed our usage of it. Perhaps we
should write a sanity test later that prevents the use of
pytest.raises(message) to avoid this mistake.
seealso: https://docs.pytest.org/en/4.6-maintenance/deprecations.html#message-parameter-of-pytest-raises
Also update the exception message tested for as we're now properly
detecting that the messages have changed.

In ovirt-engine 4.3 and onwards a 'commit on success' parameter is
available. It is used to commit a network configuration automatically
upon successful application of the configuration without needing a
separate save request.
Therefore since ansible 2.8 if the 'save' parameter is specified as
'true' the commit on success parameter will be set to true and used
instead of making an additional save request.

- Support more import statements:
from ansible_collections.ansible.builtin.plugins.module_utils import basic

- Add unit tests for more import statements.
- Raise ImportError instead of returning None if load_module fails.
We have some common code used by several docs scripts. Migrate that
into the build-only shared code repository.
* Move lib/ansible/utils/_build_helpers.py to the directory for common
build code
* Migrate docs/bin/dump_config.py to a build-ansible subcommand
* Migrate dump_keywords to the build-ansible framework
* Make the script more maintainable by using functions and good
variable names
* Port to Python3 idioms
* Fix bug so that private attributes will be undocumented
* Move generate_man to a build-ansible subcommand
* Port plugin_formatter to a build-ansible subcommand
* Rework command_plugins so that docs scripts can target Python-3.4+ and
releng-only subcommands can use more recent versions of Python.
The architecture is now that command_plugins/* need to be importable
on Python-3.4. The init_parsers() method needs to run on Python-3.4.
But the main() method can utilize features of more recent Python as
long as it fits within those parameters.
* Update docs build requirements
Port the plugin_formatter to build-ansible framework
* The chroot connection plugin crashes because its constructor calls
self.get_option(...) before the plugin loader has established its
self._load_name. Therefore, we should defer the self.get_option(...)
call so that it happens in connect().

The metaclass boilerplate is safe to apply en masse. The future import

* cosmetic: Remove useless call to ec2_argument_spec()
* aws_s3: Improve ETag handling
* Extract ETag calculation into a utility function for reuse by
aws_s3_sync.
* Reduce code duplication in put/get by restructuring the logic
* Only calculate ETag when overwrite == different
* Fail gracefully when overwrite == different and MD5 isn't available
(e.g. due to FIPS-140-2).
* aws_s3: clean up integration tests
Clean up tests, add tests for overwrite settings in both directions.
* Add msg parameter to the mandatory filter
The `mandatory` filter would be more useful, particularly when dealing with nested dictionaries, with the simple addition of a `msg` parameter for supplying it with a custom failure message.
In "status: present" playbook execution for a VDO volume that is
absent, all of the parameters that are given in the playbook are
issued to the "vdo create" command, therefore any parameters that
become "unrecognized" will result in the "vdo" command returning an
error with the message "unrecognized arguments", which can then be
relayed back to the user. This is a gracefully handled failure case.
Examples of "unrecognized" parameters are new features that are not
yet in the current version of VDO, or features that were removed
since the current version of VDO.
In "status: present" playbook execution for a VDO volume that is
already present, the same behavior as the "creation" stage of the
module should occur, but doesn't occur, since the key strings for
the "vdo status" output of the parameter do not exist. This results
in a KeyError on the parameter that no longer exists.
Therefore, use "if statfield in processedvdos[desiredvdo]:" to filter
the modifiable parameters with the ones that are supported in this
VDO version, then use "if statfield not in processedvdos[desiredvdo]:"
to evade the KeyError, and add the "unsupported" parameters.
Also, instead of using the "currentvdoparams" dictionary, which
filters only the parameters reported by the "vdo status" output, use
the "modtrans" dictionary, which contains all of the possible
parameters. Therefore, if the playbook specifies an "unsupported"
parameter, let it be passed on to the "vdo" command, to display an
actionable error message.

* Use `compile` before `eval` in collection loader.
This fixes two issues:
1. File names are available when tracing execution, such as with code coverage.
2. Future statements are not inherited from the collection loader.
* Add unit tests for collection loading.
These tests verify several things:
1. That unit tests can import code from collections when the collection loader is installed.
2. That tracing reports the correct file and line numbers (to support code coverage).
3. That collection code does not inherit __future__ statements from the collection loader.
* Update unit test handling of the collection loader.
Since the collection loader is installed simply by importing ansible.plugins.loader,
we may already have a collection loader installed when the test runs. This occurs if
any other tests are collected which use that import during collection. Until that code
is moved into an initialization function to avoid loading during import, the unit tests
will need to replace any existing collection loaders so that they reflect the desired
configuration.
* Insert into sys.modules before calling exec.
This is a requirement of PEP 302.
It will prevent recursion errors when importing the current module or using a relative import.
* Use the correct value for __package__ in modules.
This allows using relative imports in collections.
* Add warning about modifying code for trace test.
* Add test for relative import in collection.
* Add __init__.py to collection to satisfy pylint.
The relative-beyond-top-level rule in pylint may not be appropriate for collections.
However, until that rule is disabled for collections this will keep tests passing.
* Fix Pacman regex for unmatched Arch package name
`ansible -m pacman -a upgrade=yes $(hostname)` failed due to not
accounting for the `+` character in the `pacman -Qu` output line:
libsigc++ 2.10.0-1 -> 2.10.1-1
Per the Arch wiki¹, package names can contain alphanumeric characters,
and any of {`@`, `.`, `_`, `+`, `-`}.
The existing `re` covered `_` (part of `\w` in Python), and `-`
(explicitly included). This change adds `@`, `.`, and `+` (in
ASCII-betical order).

os_quota checks the current quotas for compute, network and volume
services and fails when no volume service is found in the catalog.
Since openstack test deployments without volume services are common,
os_quota shouldn't fail if such service is missing.
This was originally fixed in d31a09ceb7
and later adapted to catch exceptions raised by shade. Since then, this
module moved to using openstacksdk, which doesn't catch the exception
raised by keystoneauth1.

* nxos_vpc: pkl_vrf fixes for #57069Fixes#57069
- Symptom: When playbooks specify `pkl_vrf: default`, the result is that the cli does not set the `vrf` state.
- Analysis:
- First issue: 'default' is a reserved word when used with the `peer-keepalive` `vrf` keyword. It refers to the default rib.
- This is confusing in several ways because `peer-keepalive`'s *default* vrf is the `management` vrf.
- Second issue: When changing only one optional value (`pkl_vrf`) while other optional values are idempotent (`pkl_src`), the result is that the idempotent values are ignored; unfortunately the device cli *replaces* the entire command, in which case the idempotent values are removed.
- e.g. playbook specifies this:
```
{ pkl_dest: 10.1.1.1, pkl_src: 10.2.2.2, pkl_vrf: my_vrf }
```
```
peer-keepalive dest 10.1.1.1 src 10.2.2.2 # original
peer-keepalive dest 10.1.1.1 src 10.2.2.2 vrf my_vrf # intended result
peer-keepalive dest 10.1.1.1 vrf my_vrf # actual result
```
- Third issue: the `pkl` getter was relying on positional data. This broke when the `udp` keyword nvgen'd where `vrf` used to appear (shifting all keywords to the right).
- Tested on regression platforms: `N3K,N6k,N7K,N9K,N3K-F,N9K-F`

openvswitch_db was not parsing properly some arguments, which caused
some commands to be executed when they shouldn't. This commit fixesit
and adds unit testing for the usecase.
Closes-Bug: #55432
Closes-bug: #43858
When provided with a wrong password `rabbitmqctl
authenticate_user` returns a non-zero exit code
(65). This seems to be unexpected by the module and
it fails when `update_password` is set to 'always'.
To mitigate this behavior we augment the `_exec`
method by adding a `check_rc` flag (which defaults
to `True`, hence it's backward-compatible) and
override it when we need it (in `check_password`
method to address #56164).

* Fix service integration test.
Set the proper file mode when copying before asserting the mode is correct.
* Fix certificate_complete_chain test.
Do not assume that testhost is the same as localhost.
* Fix nested template test.
There were two issues with the previous implementation:
1. The LOGNAME environment variable may not be set.
2. The comparison assumed that testhost is localhost.
* Fix variable display for cartesian lookup test.
* Fix vars list test.
The test assumed that the ansible_user variable is always set,
which is not guaranteed when using connections other than local.
* Fix supervisorctl integration test.
Use ansible_user_id instead of ansible_user since ansible_user
is not guaranteed to be available when the connection is not local.
* Fix file integration test.
Use ansible_user_id instead of ansible_user since ansible_user
is not guaranteed to be available when the connection is not local.
* Fix expect integration test.
Do not assume module_utils is available for utility scripts.
* Fix python_requirements_info integration test.
Check for pip instead of ansible, since ansible is not guaranteed
to be installed when using a connection other than local.
* Fix ansible-runner integration test.
Use implicit localhost to run the test since it requires access
to the ansible installation currently being tested.
* Fix tower_common integration test.
Accept errors on stdout or stderr.
* Fix tower_user integration test.
Recognize errors on stdout or stderr.
* win_pagefile - Fix idempotency when same settings as current

The package_data globs in setup.py were missing the necessary glob
to install:
galaxy/data/default/.travis.yml
A Python glob pattern will not by default match a hidden file
(i.e. a file basename beginning with a dot). If you want a glob
to pick up a hidden file in a directory you must explicitly specify
a glob pattern with "/.*".

* Initial proposal for new parameter option for response format
- output_version parameter dictates the response key case
- new is snake_case, old is camelCase
- If new, conversion is done at the end of module execution
- This is purely a proposal and not a final draft
* Add support for ANSIBLE_MERAKI_FORMAT env var
- If env var is set to 'camelcase' it will output camelcase
- Otherwise, will default to snakecase
- Added note to documentation fragment
- As of now, all module documentation needs to be updated
* Fix pep8 errors and remove output_version args
* Restructure check in exit_json so it actually works
* Add changelog fragment
* Change output_format to a parameter with env var fallback
- ANSIBLE_MERAKI_FORMAT is the valid env var
- Added documentation
* Convert to camel_dict_to_snake_dict() which is from Ansible
- Fixed integration tests
* Fix yaml lint error
* exit_json camel_case conversion handles no data
- exit_json would fail if data wasn't provided
- Updated 3 integration tests for new naming convention
* convert_camel_to_snake() handles lists and dicts
- The native Ansible method doesn't handle first level lists
- convert_camel_to_snake() acts simply as a wrapper for the method
- There maybe a situation where nested lists are a problem, must test
- Fixed integration tests in some modules
* A few integration test fixes
* Convert response documentation to snake case
* assign a sane default to yum/dnf lock_timeout, in line with cli

Ansible galaxy role download checked for `.tar.gz`, but `tarfile.is_tarfile(...)` can identify and open any valid tarfile. This change uses transparent stream compression to make `.tar.gz` and `.tar.bz2` formats valid with python 2.6.x/2.7.x (as well as `.tar.xz` with python 3.x).
* Add a few examples of how to correctly use `regex_replace` filter
because it behaves differently on different Python versions when using
regex qualifiers that can match an empty string (e.g. '*', '?', etc).

To get all instances gcp_compute made a call to the Google API for each
zone separately. Because of this if all zones needed to be queried
fetching hosts lasted 30+ seconds. Now the module will use a single
query that will return all the instances, so the execution should last
just a few seconds.
This commit also suppresses a warning from the google-auth library about
using user credentials because if an Ansible user wants to use user
credentials, there is no need to warn him about it.

* nxos_bfd_global: initial commit
This is an initial POC with just a few commands included. The code has been written somewhat generically so that it can act as a best practices template for re-use in future modules. The implementation follows the yaml cmd_ref style to define each command's getter/setter/type/default. It supports platform-specific defaults.
The basic logic is to collect all relevant data in a `cmd_ref` dict and pass that around to various methods.
In the BFD case the devices don't provide JSON output so we have to screen-scrape with show runs.
BFD does not support present/absent states so there is no state param.
BFD has three different property types to handle. We can add add'l types as needed:
- int
- int_list (list of ints)
- str (needs support for 'no' keyword)
* Use get_capabilities to find platform type
* PR comment fixes, round 1
* Minor cleanups
* nxos_bfd_global: create NxosCmdRef in module_utils

* nxos_vlan: fix broken purge behavior (issue #57101)
Symptoms/Analysis:
- `nxos_vlan` `purge: true` would fail when `purge` was trying to delete all unspecified vlans, including vlan 1.
- `nxos` devices do not allow removing vlan 1 and raise a cli exception error
- Previous fix#55144 caused a side effect when `purge` was used: vlan changes specified by `aggregate` were ignored; e.g.
- vlan 4 is not present; playbook specifies `aggregate: { vlan: 4 }, purge: true`
- results in proper purging but vlan 4 is not created
Solutions:
- ignore vlan 1 when purging
- remove the `not purge` check from state present logic
Added additional unit tests and integration tests.
Tested against all regression platforms.
* PEP fixes
* Add agg_show_vlan_brief.txt fixture
* Add warning for removing vlan 1
* change method name check
Handle exceptions raised while describing the metric alarms rather than
printing tracebacks.

Often when I am helping others learn Ansible, they are using nodes spun up on Amazon/Google/etc. where private key files (pem) are needed. Mentioning just a bit more on how to handle those private key files on the intro_getting_started page will help more folks get started faster.
I even reviewed the changes with my learning team and they all agreed this helped clarify immediately for them how to really get started with Ansible from a practical perspective.

The syslog_json documentation says that it supports options via an Ansible

variables.
I've updated the module to use the standard "get_options" handling which means
that it can now support options via environment variables *or* the
configuration file.
Options can be set in the configuration file as follows:
```
callback_whitelist = syslog_json
[callback_syslog_json]
syslog_server = localhost
syslog_port = 514
syslog_facility = user
```
* Use the original, documented, names for the modules options.

anyway with the rest of the team_openstack :)
Sorry for the inconvenience.

The jinja2 query() function (or lookup with wantslist=True, which is
the same thing) should always return a list.
However, if you combine a query with errors='ignore' and take the
error path, the current code returns a None value. This is important
in a case such as
- name: Conditional include file
import_tasks: '{{ item }}'
vars:
params:
files:
- path/file1.yaml
- path/file2.yaml
loop: "{{ q('first_found', params, errors='ignore') }}"
If neither file1.yaml or file2.yaml exist, this should do nothing by
returning an empty list to the loop. Currently if you run the above
task you'll get a rather unhelpful:
Invalid data passed to 'loop', it requires a list, got this instead: .
This change ensures that when a query ignores an error, it returns a
empty list. The errors='ignore' case is tested in several variants
with first_found. The extant (but deprecated) "skip: True" for
first_found doesn't seem to be explicitly tested; a test is added here
to avoid regressions before removal in 2.12.
This fixes a regression you'll hit if you follow the suggestion in the
deprecation message included with
e17a2b502d to use errors=ignore over
"skip: True" for first_found. This change adds an example that points
out the query/lookup difference and also fixes the error message to
not mention the now deprecated "skip: True".
Closes#56775
* Rewrite idempotency check
- Check now operates recursively and works on multiple types
- Order of lists matter
* Remove blank line for lint
* Fixed idempotency checks in meraki_ssid
- New sanitize() method for finding keys unique in compared dicts
- Fixed bug in meraki_ssid where SSID specified by number breaks
- This will require a backport
- Converted ignored_keys from tuple to list
* Made changes required for idempotency
* Add changelog fragment
* Add unidirectional option for testing
* Disable option 1 check
* General fixes for is_update_required testing
- Added commented out debug statements in method
- Fixed ignored_keys modifications
* Remove old commented algorithm
Add check for all policy fields (name, apply_to, pattern, tags,
priority) to have correct changed state. Previosly changed state was
based on policy name only.
* Add support for rabbitmq 3.7
* Fix exec args for rabbitmqctl status
* Add changelog and fix description for Ansible 2.9
* Return results even when the cache is disabled
By default the cache is disabled and so the results of the API call
are not placed in there for the return statement to fetch.
* Always update self._cache to return
It is possible for provider.authorize to exist, but set to None. Rather

dict.items() in pytho2 returns a list of tuples which can be iterated
while modifying the dict. In python 3 it returns a view which is tied to
the underlying dict, meaning the modifications to the dict while
iterating are unsafe.
This commit generates new list containing the tuples from the iterator
in python 3 which breaks the link to the dict, allowing the dict to be
modified while iterating the list.
In python 2 it would simply copy the list.
Fixes#56902
* [docker_network] Fix idempotency when using aux_addresses in ipam_config
Mismatch between keys returned by Docker API (AuxilliaryAddresses) vs
expected by Ansible module (aux_addresses) resulted in tasks always
have status 'changed'. The existing code normalizing one set of
keys to another missed this special case where converting
CamelCase to lowercase is not sufficent.

for reference.

Depends on package manager - adds example so we show both syntaxes.

- In order to keep the integration with `ansible-test`, we prefer to avoid any
interaction with the Ansible inventory file.
- split up the prepare_vmware_tests/defaults/main.yml in two
configuration files: one for vcsim and one for a real environment
- remove all the access to hostvars
- directly interact with the ESXi to mount/umount the datastore
https://github.com/ansible/ansible/pull/56516
- record the virtual machine folder in the environment configuration
- vmware_guest_move: Use https://github.com/ansible/ansible/pull/55237
Until now, the module was only able to interact with vcenter. This
commit adds the ability to directly target an ESXi without the
`esxi_hostname` parameter.
- Also return url and update docs for other values to indicate they are only returned on success.
- Add integration tests
- Use info variable for common return values
- Use -1 as default status rather than None. This is lines up with with existing code in urls.py
- Add unit tests to ensure status and url are returned on failure
The `network.type` parameter is set to default on default on `static`.
As a consequence, the network parameter is always defined as `dict`.
This patch ensures we don't check the value of the network configuration
if we want to delete the interface.

does not exist.
From: https://www.vmware.com/support/developer/converter-sdk/conv60_apireference/vim.CustomFieldsManager.html
The CustomFieldsManager object is used to add and remove custom fields to
managed entities.
The custom fields values set on managed entities are available through the
customValue property and through the summary objects for VirtualMachine
and HostSystem. They are not available directly through this managed object.
This functionality is only available through VirtualCenter.
Fixes: #56071
The use of the `hostvars[esxi1].ansible_host` was attempt to use
different hostname and IP address. But it's actually the source of
more problems.
VMware expects to be able to resolvable the host name. This means, that
if someone wants to run the test-suite, s/he needs to use a DNS or
update the `/etc/hosts` files on the different hosts.
* nxos_switchport: remove deprecated test target files
* Remove tests for nxos_ip_interface, nxos_portchannel; update nxos_interface

The networking API v2 specification, which is implemented
by openstack neutron, features an optional MTU parameter that
allows operators to specify the value for the maximum
transmission unit value.

* nxos_vpc:Fix idempotency issues with multiple attributes
Several attributes were causing idempotency problems on various platforms:
- `auto_recovery`
- This command can be disabled on certain platforms and will nvgen as `no auto-recovery`
- When enabled it has an additional optional-keyword for changing the `reload-delay` timer value
- This was addressed by adding a new attribute `auto_recovery_reload_delay` to handle setting the timer value
- This new attribute is mutually exclusive with `auto_recovery`
- `/show run vpc/show run vpc all/`
- Changed the command that gets state to `all` so that it could differentiate between `auto-recovery` and `auto-recovery reload-delay`
- This change resulted in also changing some attribute handling withing `get_vpc`, since some attributes like `peer_gw` relied on presence of the config to determine state true or false. With `all` the config is always there so these attrs must specifically check for `'no '` in the string.
- `delay_restore`
- This command has two additional, optional keywords that exist on some platforms and not others.
- New attrs:
- `delay_restore_interface_vlan`
- `delay_restore_orphan_port`
- Modified the `sanity` test to include the new attributes and to fix the platform issues.
- Bugfix Pull Request
`modules/network/nxos/nxos_vpc.py`
- Validated `nxos_vpc` `sanity` test on these platforms, all are now 100% Pass: N35, N3K, N3K-F, N6K, N7K, N9K, N9K-F
- TBD: Future work is needed to add support for `peer_gw_exclude_gw` timers. This could be addressed in the same way as the `auto_recovery_reload_delay` changes included here.
* lint fix
* Add 'version_added' tags for new options
* nxos_snmp_user: platform fixes for get_snmp_user
snmp user output behavior varies quite a bit for the different nxos platforms and required several workarounds:
- N5K/N6k
- These platforms do not support structured output for `show snmp user`.
- The current code lands in an `except` clause when the output is not structured; so I added a new `get_non_structured_snmp_user` method to scrape the state from the regular cli output if it's present.
- N9K-F
- The `group` data in the JSON output is different for this platform; it has a different key (just `group` instead of `TABLE_groups` or `group_names`) and it is not indexed
- For a single group the value is a string, for multiple groups it's a list
- sanity
- N5K/N6K/N9K-F platforms will reject `no snmp user <name> <role>` when it's the last role defined for the user.
- workaround is to use `nxos_user` to remove the user
- Changes validated on:
- `N3K, N3K-F, N35, N6K, N7K, N9K, N9K-F`
- `6.0(2)A8`
- `7.0(3)I2, 7.0(3)I4, 7.0(3)I5, 7.0(3)I6, 7.0(3)I7`
- `7.3(2)D1`
- `7.3(3)N1, 7.3(4)N1`
- `8.3(2)`
- `9.2(2), 9.2(3)`

* sysctl will now return an error if the value is invalid
sysctl can fail to set a value even if it returns an exit status 0. More
details: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1264080. Because of
this in case of an invalid value or a read-only file system, sysctl
module would return OK, even though it didn't set anything. To be sure
that sysctl correctly applied the changes we also need to check the
output of stderr.
* Run sysctl with LANG=C
Because we are parsing sysctl stderr we need to make sure that errors
are persistent across different system language settings.
* Add changelog fragment for sysctl
- Created `sanity.yaml` to contain all of the tests previously kept in separate files
- Removed `cli` and `nxapi` test directories

* Update include_role description to discuss tasks: use
The previous description in this statement's description really threw me off, and is IMO ambiguous at best. 'Loads and executes a role as a task dynamically. This frees roles from the roles: directive and allows them to be treated more as tasks.'
For reference, I spent a long time trying to make include_role, with a loop, work under a roles: section. It doesn't work, but this documentation and its use of the roles: keyword in the opening, and the phrase '"more" as a task' muddies the waters.

When `vmware_datastore_facts` does not fine any datastore, it raises an error.
This is not consistent with the other _facts modules. It should just return
an empty list instead.
In a multi-host context, `changed_list` will record all the changes
done on any host. So as soon as ONE host is changed, it will be `True`.
A host can potentially already have a parameter set, in this case
`change_option_list` will be empty.
This commit uses `change_option_list` instead of `changed_list` to
decided if a given host should be updated.

* Fix loading namespaced doc_fragments
The syntax for specifying a different fragment name was already
using '.' as a separator, so the code needed to be tweaked to
avoid choking on names like `testns.testcoll.fragname` and
`testns.testcoll.fragname.altvar`.
`get_plugin_class()` returns 'docfragment' for the fragment loader;
mangling `subdir` provides consistent alignment with the normal plugin
directory names and avoids needing special handling of plugin types
with 'module' in the name.

* Fix channel joining for some IRC servers.
Some IRC servers may return the channel in a different case than
requested. For instance, you might request "foo" but the server
returns "FOO". The regular expression matching must be case-insensitive
for the join response in order to handle this.
* ansible style guidelines want spaces
In addition to using creating container using image
aliases, containers can also be created using
fingerprints, provided that the playbook author provide
alternate values for 'server', 'protocol' and swap out
'alias' for 'fingerprint'.

The k8s plugin expects the "connections" field to be a list - current docs examples trigger:

Document suggested replacement moduels for kubernetes, oc, and ec2_ami_find
modules in the porting guide
* remember the _module suffix

removed in documentation.
* Remove removed modules from validate-modules ignore
* Remove unittests for the removed nodules
* Remove links to removed modules and add list of removed moduels to the
2.9 porting guide
After branch, we do the following tasks:
* Remove all old changelog fragments. The devel tree starts fresh.
* Remove all old generated changelog info (CHANGELOG-v2.8.rst and .changes.yaml)
* Set the new codename and version in release.py
* become mixin is no more
since sudo/su keywords are removed in 2.9 .. no need to keep this code around
* also don't need test for code that is removed
* made preprocess_data on base noop
its not used by anything anymore, but kept for backwards compat since other methods of same name are used
* AWS: add ec2_transit_gateway_info module
* move info module test to main module and ensure unique description for parallel tests
* add type designators to module options in documentation
* assign results and return instead of exit. Add elements directive available with ansible 2.8
* assign results and return instead of exit
* get() method superfluous for module.params
* correct return type in documentation for ASN and format the sample for Tag correctly
* added random uid to test description - removing unstable alias
* change random uuid to resource_prefix to improve source of object identification in testing
